Still New York: Watercolors by Frederick Brosen
Through February 26, 2006
Frederick Brosen’s meticulously delineated watercolors are remarkable for their unerring sense of place. Marvels of patient composition and intimate observation, they provide a deft chronicle of the city around us, depicting New York’s most celebrated towers, its forgotten industrial corners, and everything in between. Brosen captures all the visual liveliness of the streetscape, at the same time infusing his works with a paradoxical stillness by imposing his own sense of quiet order on even the most chaotic blocks.
